Marcel Amance was the property of the Maufoux family, an influential Burgundian dynasty whose successive generations from 1860 onwards devoted themselves to producing great Burgundy wines.
A street in Beaune, the capital of the Burgundy region, bears the name of this illustrious family.
Cyprien Maufoux, Marcel’s brother in law, was a major political figure in Burgundy. Mayor of Santenay, he was very active in the development of this town.
Marcel Amance wines are the fruit of this ancestral family know-how.
Today, Marcel Amance covers prestigious appellations from the Côte de nuits such as Nuits St George and Clos de Vougeot.
The major part of Marcel Amance red wines are aged in the centuries-old underground cellars of the Maison du Jet d’Eau, in Santenay, south of Beaune City. Built in 1838, this property stands on the main square in Santenay, a place once regularly used for political gatherings.
Marcel Amance wines are the fruit of a rigorous selection of grapes, from carefully selected wine growers.
Our wines benefit from Laurence Danel’s experience; renowned Burgundian winemaker who has worked for prestigious negociants in Burgundy.
